Always go for pieces that shout out your style for years.

Trends come and go and fashion is dynamic. But few things that stay constant are your style and some fashion rules. Here are 8 fashion rules to sustainability that you must keep in mind while styling and shopping for your clothes.

You are 8 steps away from styling the perfect you and be on the sustainable road. Are you ready?

8 Fashion rules to sustainability

1. DON’T DRESS FOR THE TREND. DRESS FOR YOURSELF.

In today’s fast fashion world there is a tendency to get mesmerised by the new trends. However, you should remember that all trends may not suit your style or choice and that is completely ok. There is an old saying that goes like: Trends tend to fade, but style lasts forever. Shop as per your style for pieces that last years and if possible, a decade. Heirlooms last centuries.

2. QUALITY CLOTHING IS IMPORTANT

Investing in quality clothes is very important. A clothing piece that may look very attractive may not be of an expected quality or comfort. One should always prioritise comfort and quality over fashionable looks.

3. ACCESSORIES

Accessories are a very important part of dressing up. The best way to dress stylishly is by investing in good accessories.
When you invest in accessories, remember to invest in quality accessories because artificial accessories with poor quality may rust within 2-3 months and prove a waste of money and time.

4.THE BRAND DOES NOT MATTER

The brand you wear does not matter. The price does not matter. What matters is that you style your pieces rightly and choose the right combinations.
A lot of my friends purchase inexpensive tops from the nearest thrift shops and pair them stylishly and look stunning. You can make a sack look like a designer piece by styling it right.

5. INVEST IN QUALITY HANDBAGS

Many a time, women don’t have the option of pockets in their attire. A good handbag is a very good investment and an important accessory that expresses the style of every fashionista. I’ll deviate a little here. For me, my bag is my most important accessory and I always buy it from a good brand that represents me. I don’t buy second copies. I buy as per my pocket and have the maximum bags from Coach. The brand suits my pocket and all my bags are from factory outlets of US and UK.

Also, whether you carry a Coach, LV, Chanel or a Zara, it doesn’t matter! What matters is how you carry it and how it looks on you. A quality bag goes a long way.

6. GO EASY WITH MAKEUP

Less is even more when it comes to your make up. Overdoing your make up is a big fashion mistake as per me. Try using some nude shades or something that suits your skin but doesn’t look as if you have puffed up an entire bottle on your face. Do your makeup beautifully and be a charmer. Do not become a walking palette of makeup.

7. WEAR CLOTHES YOU LIKE

It is okay if you do not like bodycon fits. I don’t like them either. It is okay to wear loose and over-sized clothes. Just be graceful in what you wear. Wear as per your age.

Search for a look that you feel comfortable in. Jeans, suits, sarees, tees, shirts, dresses, shorts, denims, anything is fine as long as it makes you happy! Happy clothes are the most sustainable.

I love this stunning off shoulder and this one has already lasted 3 seasons.

8. WEAR IT WITH PRIDE

And the last but not the least is whatever you wear, where it with pride and style. Once you are confident about your own style, no criticism or opinions will give you second thoughts about your style.

Now you’re 8 steps ahead from everyone else in styling your perfect look. So why wait? Keep a note of these and let out the vogue girl in you! Just be sustainable and think before buying.
