Let’s Expresso is a Fashion Blog. But I would like to call it a Fashion & Kurta Blog. My love for kurta goes back in history to the time I can remember. Wearing it for Religious functions or Gurpurabs as we call it were my first impressions of this beautiful attire. Covering our heads in dupattas and praying has been a way of life since we were kids. And then being born a Punjabi, the love for this enchanting piece of fabric is given. Weddings, parties, get-togethers, if not in a kurta then in what? Once a Kurta Lover, always a Kurta Lover!

And now I feel it as my duty to take this love of my life to all of you. So whether you are a kurta lover or not, join this community and you will find multiple reasons to fall in love with this most celebrated Indian outift. And do not confuse a kurta with something very traditional, not so cool attire. Because there is nothing more chic than a kurta. In attitude it can give a short skirt a run for its money. ‘Love the Kurta’ community is of the people, by the people, for the people.

Life is a Rampway and we are all walking-talking models.

What is ‘Love the Kurta’ Community?

“Love the Kurta” is a community with a purpose. It celebrates the kurta and the one inside it.

There are many things a kurta can mean for many people. For me, its a symbol of my love for my tradition, for being a Punjabi, for being an Indian. I find it the coolest and the most comfortable attire. When my jeans and my skirts ditch me, a kurta always comes for the rescue. When I was in a full time job, 3/5 days I would be seen in a kurta. It was so easy to get ready and look dressed effortlessly. It would be considered formal for meetings and would spare me of heels so required under trousers. I would just wear a stunning kurta, matching churidaar and run away in my flat sandals. Oh, the saviour of my working life. But it can mean something else for someone else. Have a read below to know what I mean.

Jayanthi Parthasarathy

The above picture is of Jayanthi Parthasarathy. She had sent her picture in a kurta along with this note to me.

Both my family & the one that I got married into all those years ago was orthodox…..I was expected to wear a saree at all times….back then a kutra symbolised freedom and independence ~ things that so many take for granted……I had to convince a lot many people for quite some time before I got to wear a kurta…so for me a kurta represents that indescribable feeling I got when I wore it for the first time ~ an opportunity to be me.”

In an instant, I knew I had to create this ‘Love The Kurta’ Community for you and me and for million other women to voice our love for Kurta and so many emotions it represents.

See you with your kurta stories!

Much Love & All the Best
