Angry Birds–a puzzle video game was developed by Rovio Mobile, Finnish computer game developer. The game runs on almost all platforms from iOS, Android, HP webOS, Symbian^3, Series 40, Maemo, PSP/Play Station 3, Mac OS X, Windows, Windows Phone 7, WebGL, Google Chrome, Google Plus, Windows 7, Vista, XP.
In December 2009, the game was initially released for Apple’s iOS. It was inspired by a sketch of stylized wingless birds. The huge popularity prompted the company to design versions for Android operating system and other touch screen based smart phones. Only from Apple’s App store, over 12 million copies of the game have been purchased.
The game generates interest since the beginning. The players use slingshots to launch birds with the idea of destroying all the pigs in the playfield. The pigs are stationed within various structures. At advance stages, new birds start appearing and some of them have special abilities activated by the player.
The game has been a mega hit and there have been around 500 million downloads across various platforms. The game is comical in style, very addictive and at a good price- all features to make a game widely popular have been incorporated. A version of Angry Birds has even been created for personal computers, thanks to its wide popularity.
