What inspired you to start XYST, and what is the vision behind the brand?

The inception of our brand was fueled by our aspiration to craft a label that embodies safety, efficacy, and environmental sustainability. Our vision is to cultivate Xyst into a revered name, recognized universally as the ultimate solution for all skincare needs.

Can you share the story behind the name “XYST”?

Our vision for the brand was to stay deeply connected to nature and reflect that essence in our name. At the same time, we wanted a unique, single-word name that would stand out in the industry. After nearly three months of careful searching and brainstorming, we luckily discovered the word “Xyst.” This Greek word means “a covered garden walk or one lined with trees,” and it resonated deeply with our values. As soon as we shared this word with the team, it transformed from a simple term into the heart of our brand.

How do you ensure that all your products are 100% vegan, toxin-free, and cruelty-free?

Ensuring that all our products are 100% vegan, toxin-free, and cruelty-free is a top priority for us. We achieve these through the following methods:

1. Strict Ingredient Selection: We meticulously choose our ingredients, ensuring they are plant-based and free from animal-derived substances. Our formulations exclude any harmful toxins, relying instead on natural and safe alternatives.   2. Supplier Integrity: We partner only with suppliers who adhere to ethical and sustainable practices. Each supplier must provide certifications that guarantee their ingredients are vegan and cruelty-free. 3. Continuous Monitoring and Audits: We regularly audit our processes and supply chain to maintain compliance with our high ethical standards. Continuous monitoring helps us identify and address any potential issues promptly. 4. Transparent Practices: We believe in complete transparency with our customers. Following are some we have encountered:
1. Ingredient Sourcing: Finding high-quality, vegan, and cruelty-free ingredients that meet our strict standards can be difficult. It requires extensive research and reliable suppliers, which can sometimes limit our options and increase costs.
2. Consumer Education: Many consumers are not fully aware of what vegan and cruelty-free mean in the context of skincare. Educating them about the benefits and importance of these principles is crucial but can be time-consuming and requires strategic communication efforts.
Despite these challenges, our dedication to promoting ethical skincare remains unwavering. We continuously strive to overcome these obstacles to deliver products that are not only effective but also align with our values of compassion and sustainability.

What has been the most rewarding part of your journey with XYST so far?

The most rewarding part of our journey with XYST has been witnessing the positive impact on our customers and the environment. Hearing from satisfied customers, building a community of like-minded individuals, and knowing our commitment to sustainability and ethical practices is making a difference that has been incredibly fulfilling. The pride and dedication of our team, combined with the support of our loyal customers, motivate us to continue striving for excellence and making a positive impact.

How do you stay inspired and motivated in the competitive skincare industry?

We have created a brand that is one of the few derma-certified brands in our country. The fact that our products will keep our consumer’s skin safe is the biggest motivation.
Inspiration lies in the fact that more and more environmentally friendly innovations are taking place, and we are a part of today, from where we can contribute to a better tomorrow.

How do you differentiate XYST from other skincare brands in the market?

XYST differentiates itself from other skincare brands through its rigorous derma certification process, ensuring each product undergoes extensive testing to guarantee safety and efficacy. With industry-leading low irritation scores between 0.002% and 0.005%, our products are virtually irritation-free. Additionally, our commitment to using superior, vegan, and cruelty-free ingredients underscores our dedication to ethical and sustainable practices, making XYST a trusted and distinguished choice in the skincare market.

How did your experiences as a housewife influence your approach to creating XYST and its products?

After 22 years of being a homemaker, switching to an entrepreneur mode was tough initially. However as I stepped into this new role, I realized that my skills in multitasking, planning, assigning tasks, budgeting, troubleshooting, handling sudden crisis situations, and many other skills helped me gain confidence. While testing and trying the products, it was clear in my mind that nothing would be acceptable till it was sub-par. All formulations had to be 100% safe and effective.

How does your personal journey and background reflect the ethos and values of XYST?

My personal journey and background are deeply intertwined with the ethos and values of XYST. Growing up with a profound respect for nature and a passion for ethical living, I have always been committed to promoting sustainability and compassion. This commitment led me to create XYST, a brand that embodies these principles through its dedication to vegan, cruelty-free, and toxin-free skincare. Every aspect of XYST reflects my belief in creating products that are not only effective but also kind to both people and the planet.

How do you think your journey from a housewife to an entrepreneur can inspire and empower other women?

I started Xyst at the age of 44, driven by immense motivation and unwavering support from my family. When I set my mind to something, nothing can stop me from achieving my goals. To all my sisters out there, I want to say: never give up.

What advice would you give to other women who want to start their own business?

All we need is confidence. No change can happen in a day. Decide what you want to do and chase that dream for eternity. Never give up.

How do you balance your business and your personal and family life?

My family has been a pillar of unwavering support and motivation. With my daughters now grown and independent, and my husband and I united in our work with Xyst, maintaining balance is effortless. We are all aligned in our shared vision, making our journey both harmonious and fulfilling.
