The city is lit, so is my heart! My favorite one liner that comes to my mind every Diwali. This is one festival that makes me go crazy to the extent of pro-longing my celebrations atleast 2 weeks beyond Diwali- I just don’t want to stop. And one thing that makes me totally crazy is my outfit for Diwali shopping, it has to be special, different, contemporary yet ethnic to symbolize the day.

Well, if you are still thinking what to wear this Diwali, here are some fashion tips to help you look fabulous.

– Wear a dhoti with a contrasting short kurti. This can be worn irrespective of your height. Wear a blazing dhoti with a contrast kurti and steal the day. If you want to keep it light on budget, go for an existing flashy dupatta in bandhini or phulkari or a traditional odni and pair it with a contrasting suit. Sarees are another great option to look elegant. It brings out a certain reverence. The existing fashion of long silhouettes continues very well. Wear a long, asymmetric cut anarkali or a flair suit in sold blocks and colours. Whatever you wear, be ethnic, period!

– Embellished shoes- a must. Whether heels or flats, strappy or pointed, a nice pair of shoe bling is a must in Diwali shopping.

– Classic earrings. Take out those statement earrings from your bank lockers or your hidden drawers. You can even wear fashion jewellery but it has to be classic.

Concept sarees and multi-layered, asymmetric anarkalis will be a trend this festive season. Embroidered shawls and peplum blouses with sarees will be huge. Go complete Indian, go complete ethnic top to toe.
