Receiving ASUS ZenPad 8.0 (Z380KL) for a review was awesome. And further awesome is the experience with it!
The life of a Blogger is full of twists and turns. Some days are good and some so low. And then there are these days where the courier guy delivers a parcel with a device that simplifies life. ASUS Zenpad 8.0 Z380KL is a mainstream 8 inch tablet with a premium design and high specification technology. It is like a small notebook in my hand that is easy to carry and easy to work on. And when I need a break, 5.1 surround sound plays HD music. Life is easier, fun and interactive.

ASUS Zenpad is available in India in three variants- ZenPad 8.0, ZenPad 7.0 and ZenPad C 7.0.
ASUS ZenPad 8.0 (Z380KL) Review
The review has 3 sections: Blogger’s Perspective; A quick ASUS ZenPad 8.0 (Z380KL) Review and then a detailed ASUS ZenPad 8.0 review.
A Blogger’s Perspective
- The device is handy, compact and can fit into any of my designer and non designer bags.
- It’s a size between a smartphone and a laptop. My laptop screen is 11″ but its cumbersome to carry around for work. This 8″ tablet is really convenient.
- I can also just hold this in my hand along with my wallet and go anywhere. The 4G compatibility gives me internet everywhere.
- I can do my regular social media stuff over a larger screen than my phone. It’s more fun. Size makes a difference.
- Formatting mails is easier which is a big bonus.
- Camera quality and post processing features are an ace. It’s easier creating special effects and cleaning the raw images.
- Formatting and editing content is at the back of my hand now. This is what I always want. But I have to write a long article, I prefer my laptop.
- Built in Premium sound to deliver sharp audios.
- The ASUS audio cover makes it a fantastic multimedia device. It comes with a built in DTS-HD Premium Sound Speaker for a heavily boosted audio output. Quite good for watching Youtube movies and listening to songs while working.

Detailed Review of ASUS ZenPad (Z380KL) 8.0:
Asus ZenPad 8.0 Look & Feel
The device is fairly thin with 8.5mm thickness and weighs a mere 350g, making it a light tablet.
It comes with an 8-inch Super Bright IPS HD Panel with ASUS Tru2Life technology.
The micro-SIM, microSD slots and the connector for the Audio Cover accessory are under the rear panel.

The Audio Cover is a recommended buy. It comes for an additional Rs 3000 and has a dual function of protection as well as an add on speaker. It requires no pairing because of the direct connector pins. The DTS-HD Premium Sound Speaker is already in-built in the ASUS Audio Cover. This speaker is 6 in 1, with 4 main speakers, 1 center and 1 subwoofer. With 6 hours of battery life, enjoy your movies, songs and Youtube videos. The case also allows the pad to stand neatly in a landscape mode for watching movies. The Audio Cover makes the tablet look like a diary. It has a good finish & texture. Definitely worth investing in for its dual purpose of a speaker and protection.

There is an inbuilt DTS-HD Premium sound in the ASUS ZenPad 8.0 Z380KL itself to adequately deliver stereo sound independent of the Audio Cover.
The low-resolution screen is the only drawback.
Asus ZenPad 8.0 Battery Life
The device has a good battery life unless someone is on an evergreen Usage Mode. When purely used as a tablet, I got close to 2 days of usage on a single charge. If you want to use it as a phone or a device for regular internet services, a full day is easily achievable thanks to the 4000mAh battery powering the device.

Asus ZenPad 8.0 Camera
- The device features two PixelMaster cameras.
- Rear Camera is 8MP in quality with auto-focus. Front Camera is 2MP. No shutter lag.
- Rear Camera has 15 effect modes while the Front Camera has 8 to choose from. Effects such as Low Light mode, Beautification mode, selfie mode with 140 degree Panorama, Time Lapse, Smart remove to delete moving objects from the background of the shot, are some of the modes to choose from.
- Tablets are not much used for camera purpose, however, this device gives decent photographs if not extraordinary.
Asus ZenPad 8.0 Software
The tablet comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which makes it one of the top-specification tablet in this range. Rest of the specs are standard which includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 4000mAh battery, 8 MP Primary camera + 2 MP Front camera and expandable storage up to 128GB.

Tru2Life technology.

Availability for ASUS ZenPad 8.0 (Z380KL): Flipkart and ASUS exclusive stores.
Final Word: ASUS ZenPad 8.0 (Z380KL) is a good device in the range. It is fully loaded with features and offers value for money. So if you’re looking for a mid- range tablet, Go for it!
