The world is going bonkers over this Korean skincare innovation. What is it? What are Sheet Masks? Read the post and find out.
Being your fashion guide we thought of sharing with you all that we know about sheet masks and why they have become a rage in the beauty circuit.
What are sheet masks?
Sheet masks are face shaped sheet fabrics. These are soaked in serum which is a solution full of nutritional extracts for your skin. Sheet masks originated in South Korea and have now become a major trend the world over.
Available in a plethora of variants, you can pick one as per your skin type and needs. Aloe vera, cucumber, green tea, strawberry, honey, lemon, rose, collagen, anti-ageing, vitamin E….there are many to choose from.
It locks in the moisture and your skin definitely feels plump and supple. Since they are no mess you can use them almost every second day.
How to use them?
On days when you feel lazy to indulge in a full-fledged skincare routine, yet want to pamper yourself, sheet masks make the perfect solution.
All you need to do is place them on your face and let all the goodness seep deep into your skin.
- It is best to cleanse your face before placing a sheet mask on. Wash your face with a mild cleanser.
- Put on a sheet mask and set the time for 20 minutes.
- Gently peel it off and massage the residue serum into your skin.
They are convenient and easy to use. No mess, no hassle, just use and throw.
So the other day I used the Strawberry sheet mask by Innisfree. It was refreshing and rejuvenating. My skin did feel soft and supple. But these masks cannot replace my mutani mitti ubtan or a face scrub.
If you want to deep clean your pores, get rid of the tan and get a natural glow for your skin, I suggest a traditional face pack would work best. You could also check our 7 summer de-tanning face packs here to save yourself from summer tan. They are very much recommended.
How does a sheet mask work?
The sheet is soaked in concentrated serum which consists of beneficial ingredients for the skin. These ingredients are in water phase. Now when you put on the sheet, it prevents evaporation and all the goodness goes into your skin.
They won’t replace traditional masks
Although sheet masks are soaked with the goodness of natural ingredients, but you need to know that these cannot replace your traditional masks.
These masks are generally made of fiber or paper. You just place the sheets on your face, which means these cannot exfoliate or deep cleanse. For that you would need a traditional face scrub or a clay mask.
Final Verdict
Pros –
- Fuss free and easy to use.
- Would give fast results, like refreshing feel and instant glow.
- When you don’t have time for a full facial, these come handy.

- These masks just nourish and moisturize your skin, but don’t exfoliate and cleanse.
