Minimalist Squalane 100% review | Honest, Clean & Effective skincare

Adding new skincare products is always a good idea and specially if you know what’s inside them. Meet Minimalist, a brand that’s honest, clean, transparent and effective. Not only knowing who made my products is important but also what’s inside them. There’s nothing like healthy skin that glows from within. And who knows it more than someone who has suffered through oily skin, acne, blackheads and frequent breakouts. Minimalist came as a knight in shining armour and what a journey it has been!

Minimalist Squalane 100% review

Minimalist Squalane 100% has become my all purpose lightweight moisturiser that I can use with closed eyes. Moisturisers have always been a challenge for me. Sometimes too oily, sometimes greasy and sometimes irritating. I feel you if you have a problematic skin like mine. Squalane 100% is easily absorbed by the skin. Use it morning & evening as the last layer over your other water based serums, if using. I use it after cleansing & toning. I don’t apply a lot of products on my skin.

The science behind the product

Please note that Squalene (C30H50) is a major component of human sebum and the hydrolipid film. Squalene plays a vital role in healthy appearance of our skin. We see loss of elasticity & dryness as we age as the production of natural Squalene starts to reduce for most of us. This makes this product apt for maturing skin like mine. Squalane 100% is an external source of squalene that helps in hydrating the skin to maintain its suppleness.

My experience | Great for oily skin

If you have oily skin, you can replace your moisturiser with Squalane 100%. It does not clog pores and penetrates easily into the skin.

100% Squalane seals in moisture and restores suppleness of the skin. I use just a drop and that’s enough for my face. It leaves a bit of a sheen which gives a glow to the face.

There are times I feel I don’t need a moisturiser as my skin is already oily but the experts also suggest using a moisturiser for the oily skin. Even oily skin gets dehydrated and needs to make up for the moisture loss. This is where Squalane 100% comes into action. I wake up to a hydrated face and it feels amazing in the morning. Sometimes I skip it during the morning routine when I see breakouts on my face. I have an oily T zone and that’s where I get frequent acne but then I apply the product on my cheeks and under eye area and hydrate that part of my face leaving the problematic zone.

Overall, it’s a fabulous product for the oily skin and serves as a facial oil. I’m very fascinated with facial oils and this product has become my go to product for everyday use.

• I use Squalane as a stand-alone moisturiser. I have breakouts and do not apply many layers on my face. I just wash my face, tone and apply Squalane 100% and nothing else. I apply sunscreen after applying Squalane 100% before heading out.

• Value for money. The bottle comes with a dropper which lets you take the exact amount of drops. It lasts long.

Ingredients

This is where the fun & transparency lies. The only ingredient in this product is squalane (vegetable squalane from olive). It’s sourced from olive oil. It’s non- greasy, soft and has a super skin absorption.

The product is totally backed by science at an affordable price. It’s available for Rs 699/- for 30 ml. You just need a drop or two for a single use and the bottle will easily last you 2 months.
